Gender Equity Education Act

The objective is to establish a gender-equal and safe campus.

  1. Teachers’ rights: As a workplace, NTU shall prohibit discrimination and foster a friendly workplace environment.
  2. Teacher Responsibilities: Safeguard students’ right to education so that they will not suffer differential treatment in admission and education because of their gender or sexual orientation. Proactive assistance shall be provided to students who are disadvantaged due to gender and sexual orientation, and the right to education of pregnant students shall be protected.
  3. Interpersonal interaction: When performing duties, due to an unequal power relationship with students, faculty members shall not develop a relationship that violates professional ethical standards in the context of sex- or gender-related interpersonal interactions. Faculty members shall respect others' and their own autonomy over their sexuality and body, avoid unwanted sexual advances or requests for dates, and must not use forcible or violent means to handle conflicts related to sex or gender.
