Eligibility: Quota-based full-time professors and project teachers

To help new faculty understand university affairs, teaching, research and services and other related resources of NTU, so that they are able to adapt to the campus environment as soon as possible, an off-campus three-day and two-night orientation camp is held in late August every year, in the hope that the camp is able to promote solidarity among the faculty and enhance their teaching enthusiasm.

Eligibility: All faculty members

Built around the ACE principles of Accessible frameworks, Customizable learning pathways, and E-learning resources, the ACE program offers flexible, self-directed teaching resources that support instructors’ teaching development. Through modules on Course Design, English as Medium Instruction (EMI), and Teaching and Learning in the Age of AI, the program encourages instructors to strengthen their teaching competencies through structured and continuous learning.

Eligibility: Quota-based full-time professors and project teachers

Teaching specialists of the NTU Center for Teaching and Learning Development or senior faculty members of NTU enter the classrooms of new instructors, observe their classes while taking notes, and discuss relevant issues with the new instructors after class to help them adjust their teaching patterns and improve their teaching activity designs, in order to increase students’ learning motivation.

To encourage cross-disciplinary exchange and the development of peer support systems among faculty, the Spark Tour program offers a series of diverse sessions during the semester. These sessions cover topics such as teaching skills and well-being, and combine instructional strategy sharing with visits to teaching sites. The program aims to provide practical support and resource guidance early in faculty members’ teaching journey, thereby enhancing their professional confidence and overall well-being.

Eligibility: Faculty members with more than five years of service

Building on the tradition of experience-sharing from the New Faculty Orientation Camp, this two-day, one-night program is specially designed for mid-career and senior faculty who have served at the university for many years. Through themed sessions and thoughtfully designed activities, the program fosters meaningful cross-disciplinary peer exchange and serves as a valuable opportunity for professional renewal.

In addition to engaging in intensive discussions on teaching practices, participants are encouraged to reflect on their own teaching philosophies and personal values, with the aim of inspiring new perspectives and approaches to teaching.

To enhance teaching quality, improve student learning outcomes, and fulfill the university's teaching mission, the Center for Teaching and Learning Development collaborates with the Ministry of Education to promote the Teaching Practice Research Program. This initiative focuses on addressing practical teaching issues and challenges in the classroom as the core of research, aiming to continuously refine teaching practices. The Center also regularly organizes related events and provides consultation services to assist interested teachers in joining the ranks of teaching research.

Teaching portfolio (tPo) serves as a platform for instructors to document and reflect on their teaching careers. tPo automatically imports an instructor’s basic information, teaching courses, and student evaluations. In addition, instructors can use tPo to post writings on their teaching philosophies, teaching plans, and reflections on teaching. These functions provide a foundation on which instructors can improve their teaching.

Faculty+ is an online video platform in which the Digital Learning Center offers the university’s faculty and teaching assistants a series of video consultation services to support them in creating digital teaching materials and approaching new teaching models. This online platform is aimed to help our faculty members and teaching assistants get hands-on experience in creating digital teaching materials and utilizing digital media technology in the classroom to enrich and innovate their courses.

To fulfill the University's commitment to holistic education, the General Education (GE) courses encompasses eight major fields, aiming to broaden students' global perspectives while cultivating sustainability literacy, interdisciplinary thinking, and lifelong learning skills. Faculty members from all departments are warmly invited to offer GE courses and join us in nurturing students with diverse perspectives and core competencies.

In addition, to enhance the quality of GE and support continuous improvement in teaching, the Center for General Education has established the Project for the Improvement of GE, which provides teaching assistants and teaching activity assistance funds for GE courses. These resources are intended to support faculty in refining course design and improving teaching effectiveness.
