  • 1. New Faculty Orientation

    Eligibility: Quota-based full-time professors and project teachers

    To help new faculty understand university affairs, teaching, research and services and other related resources of NTU, so that they are able to adapt to the campus environment as soon as possible, an off-campus three-day and two-night orientation camp is held in late August every year, in the hope that the camp is able to promote solidarity among the faculty and enhance their teaching enthusiasm.

  • 2. Faculty Development Group

    As a continuation of the New Faculty Orientation, the Center for Teaching & Learning Development organizes an additional two-day/one-night training camp for middle-generation and experienced faculty members. By offering themed courses and interactive activities, the Faculty Development Camp effectively facilitates cross-disciplinary peer interactions, boosting the participants’ teaching competencies and career. While providing an opportunity for faculty members to intensively exchange their teaching, learning, and course developing experiences, this camp also helps them reexamine their own teaching/learning ideas and self-value, so as to create an innovative pedagogy and educational environment at NTU.

  • 3. Faculty Empowerment Activities

    To diversify and enhance our faculty’s teaching competencies, the Center for Teaching & Learning Development offers a series of empowerment activities during the semester that feature six topics: digital capacity, pedagogy, course design, learning evaluation, teacher-student relationship, and self-value. These activities assist instructors to consider and suit students’ learning motives and needs when designing curricula and instructing students. Besides, they also effectively integrate digital teaching and learning resources as well as information equipment for instructors to redefine and reexamine the role and attitude of an educator.

  • 4. Teaching Practice Research Program (Ministry of Education)

    Applicable to: Full-time faculty within the establishment, project-based teachers

    To enhance teaching quality, improve student learning outcomes, and fulfill the university's teaching mission, the Center for Teaching and Learning Development collaborates with the Ministry of Education to promote the Teaching Practice Research Program. This initiative focuses on addressing practical teaching issues and challenges in the classroom as the core of research, aiming to continuously refine teaching practices. The Center also regularly organizes related events and provides consultation services to assist interested teachers in joining the ranks of teaching research.

  • 5. Teaching Practice Incubation Project (on-campus)

    Applicable to: All university faculty

    To foster a culture of teaching research at our university, encourage faculty members to take their first steps in teaching experimentation, and guide them in identifying classroom challenges based on their teaching experiences, this initiative aims to support teachers in refining their instructional designs and establishing corresponding methods for evaluating effectiveness. The goal is to promote evidence-based teaching experiments, ultimately enhancing student learning outcomes and overall teaching quality.

  • 6. Teaching Observations

    The Center for Teaching & Learning Development invites outstanding teachers, excellent teachers, instructors adopting innovative teaching methods, and instructors applying new technologies in class, to open their class for peer observation. If needed, discussions will be held after class for observers and observees to exchange their views and experiences.

  • 7. Class Observation and Interaction (Teaching Consultation)

    Eligibility: Quota-based full-time professors and project teachers

    Teaching specialists of the NTU Center for Teaching and Learning Development or senior faculty members of NTU enter the classrooms of new instructors, observe their classes while taking notes, and discuss relevant issues with the new instructors after class to help them adjust their teaching patterns and improve their teaching activity designs, in order to increase students’ learning motivation.

  • 8. Teaching Portfolio (tPo)
    • 2024-06-24

    Teaching portfolio (tPo) serves as a platform for instructors to document and reflect on their teaching careers. tPo automatically imports an instructor’s basic information, teaching courses, and student evaluations. In addition, instructors can use tPo to post writings on their teaching philosophies, teaching plans, and reflections on teaching. These functions provide a foundation on which instructors can improve their teaching.

  • 9. Faculty+: Digital Teaching Instructions
    • 2024-06-24

    Faculty+ is an online video platform in which the Digital Learning Center offers the university’s faculty and teaching assistants a series of video consultation services to support them in creating digital teaching materials and approaching new teaching models. This online platform is aimed to help our faculty members and teaching assistants get hands-on experience in creating digital teaching materials and utilizing digital media technology in the classroom to enrich and innovate their courses.

  • 10. Summer College
    • 2024-06-26

    The Summer College convened by NTU cooperates with its partner universities across Taiwan to integrate their general education courses and specializations, providing students in Taiwan with “a third semester” during summer when inter-collegiate general education courses are on offer by credit transfer. Teachers are free to choose where and when to give the lectures. The college hopes that by offering teachers a platform to give inter-collegiate and interdisciplinary lectures, students will have the opportunity to meet different teachers and experience diverse teaching styles as a way to arouse their passion for exploring related disciplines.
