The Digital Learning Center developed the new generation NTU COOL (NTU COurses OnLine), which is able to effectively support blended learning, real-time interactions and discussions online, and learning situation tracking. NTU COOL allows teachers and students to use digital technology and media materials for teaching and learning, achieving higher interactiveness and autonomy in the teaching process. This inspires teachers to attempt and design different teaching models, while allowing students to explore their own learning style. Teachers use their NTU account to log in. NTU joined OpenCourseWare (OCW) to promote the sharing of educational resources, implement the concept of lifelong learning, and provide self-learners with diverse learning content. In response to the global call for open education and social responsibility as well as to gain global visibility, NTU invites its colleges and departments to provide a multitude of high-quality courses in various fields and subjects for the NTU OCW website. In addition to offering free open courses for self-learners off campus, the teaching and learning materials on the website are also valuable references of learning, teaching, and research for students, instructors, and researchers at home and abroad.

NTU Speech was set up to keep a record of the many important lectures and speeches on extensive topics delivered at NTU, preserving precious video footages of these events for both academic and practical purposes. By watching the videos on NTU Speech, viewers get to watch each speech or lecture repeatedly anywhere and anytime, making this website a treasure trove of knowledge and learning.

The Digital Learning Center also provide video post-editing services for NTU’s official divisions or units of the second level or above.

NTU’s YouTube EDU program has three channels: “Campus,” “Course,” and “Focus.” These channels contain a variety of videos that introduce the world to NTU’s abundant educational resources and outstanding research achievements. Moreover, faculty and students can easily access information about learning and life on campus through these channels.

NTU joined the world’s largest Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) education platform, Coursera, in 2013. Outstanding instructors are encouraged to offer online courses for NTU MOOCs, with the Digital Learning Center’s assistance in curriculum design, video post-production, and platform operation training. By integrating NTU’s strengths in research, teaching, and industry-academia collaboration, NTU MOOCs continues to offer quality courses featuring these strengths and has become an exemplar provider of MOOCs for the Chinese-speaking population.

The Future Classrooms of the Academic Affairs Office are located in Room 401 of the Zonghe Lecture Building, Room 406 of the Boya Lecture Building, and Room 103 of the Gongtong Lecture Building.. It is currently under the management of the Digital Learning Center, the Office of Academic Affairs. Design features of the Future Classroom include:

• Advanced teaching equipment: the Classroom offers 9 large interactive touch displays replacing traditional blackboards, 1 high-end touchscreen computer at the lectern, and other teaching equipment, which creates an ash-free, dust-free and pollution-free teaching environment.

• IoT technology: the interactive touch display comes with the built-in digital whiteboard, with support functions such as internet connectivity, USB file access, and APP installation, which enables presentation of multiple teaching materials and remote teaching.

• In line with the BYOD trend: the Classroom supports wireless projection from all kinds of laptops and mobile phones, which improves the source-switching efficiency and reduces layout issues or incompatibility; and the Classroom also provides fixed/extended power outlets for students to use their own devices.

• Active learning environment: The classroom has features such as one-touch screen broadcasting, movable desk and chair, adjustable lighting, and writable desks and wall surfaces, which increases interactions between teacher and students as well as student groups.

Application for using the Future Classroom in the next semester begins at the end of current semester. Teachers who are interested in using the Classroom are welcome to make a reservation for the guided tour.

To promote innovative teaching, the Digital Learning Center of the Office of Academic Affairs established the Task-Oriented XR Teaching Center in 2022. This initiative encourages faculty to adopt immersive teaching methods by integrating virtual reality technology into the classroom. The aim is to diversify teaching approaches, enhance student learning experiences, and improve overall learning outcomes.

Services provided by the XR Teaching Center include:

(1) XR Equipment Lending – Various XR equipment such as VR headsets and 360° cameras are available for instructional use.
(2) Experiencing XR Curriculum – Not sure what an XR curriculum is? No problem, we’ll guide you through a quick experience to help you understand!
(3) XR Curriculum Consultation – Hands-on assistance in planning your own XR curriculum to ensure effective integration of XR technology into the teaching process.
(4) XR Workshops – Comprehensive VR 360 curriculum design lessons to equip you with the skills to create your own XR curriculum!
(5) XR Venue Rental – Looking for a suitable interactive learning environment? Our Future Classrooms are your best choice!
